Could you believe that Pharaoh Cheops rewarded his courtiers with bundles of leeks. In Rome, leeks became a cultivated vegetable, due to the lord's passion for strong leek broth. This shows that the healing and nutritional properties of this vegetable were well known in ancient times, and that it survived even when the leeks were dried. Leeks are easy to prepare, because of that they do not leave today's leading positions in modern cuisine, giving the dishes sophistication and ease.

Leeks are rich in in vital substances, including vitamins A, B1, B2, C, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, iron. By the way, these vital elements are more present in leeks than in onions, which makes leeks particularly healthy. They are also rich in C, PP group vitamins, rich in mineral salts, essential oils, and organic acids.
